Using the Collection List


The Collection List allows you to view the current list of collections, enable or disable a collection, change collection properties, and remove a collection.

NOTE: SEARCH'97 Information Server can manage only 128 collections at a time.

To view the Collection List, do the following:

1. Click the Collection Manager button on the menu bar.

2. Click the Collection List icon or hyperlink on the Collection Manager menu. Information Server displays the following page.

Collection List Operations

You can perform the following functions on the entire Collection List:

Enable All - To allow all the collections in the list to be searched, click the Enable All button.

Disable All - To prevent all the collections in the list from being searched, click the Disable All button.

Remove All - To remove all the collections from the Collection List, click the Remove All button.

Single Collection Operations

You can perform the following functions on any collection in the list.

Enable
To allow the collection to be searched, click the Enable button. The Enable button is present only when the collection is disabled.


Disable
To prevent the collections from being searched, click the Disable button. The Disable button is present only when the collection is enabled


Properties
To change collection properties, click the Properties button. The Collection Properties page is discussed below under "Changing Collection Properties."


Remove
To remove the collections from the Collection List, click the Remove button.

Changing Collection Properties

To change collection properties, click the Properties button on the Collection List page. Information Server displays the following page.

You can change any of the following properties:

For some imported file-based collections, you may need to create an HTTP alias with the appropriate administration tool of your HTTP server. For example, you might map the directory /docs/finance/reports to the URL alias /finreports. You would enter /docs/finance/reports here in the Document Root field, with a corresponding entry of /finreports in the URL Root field.

When you have changed the above information as desired, click the Apply button.
